Our story

Isla took off in 1991 with one route: Perttula to Houston.

That first year we flew the 72 miles between Hobby and Cardwell Field twice a day, mostly for people who worked at the plants in Perttula and lived in Houston, or the other way around. In 1999 we moved our hub to the new airport in Austin the month it opened. We've been there since.

Today Isla flies 36 Airbus aircraft on 39 routes, from Texas to London, Tokyo and São Paulo, and to places the big airlines don't: Wink, Houma, Deadhorse, and from 2027, south Greenland. About 3,100 people work here. Our headquarters and maintenance base are still at Cardwell Field in Perttula, where the runway meets the Gulf.

We think flying should feel calm. That means big windows, straightforward fares, a loyalty program whose rules we publish, and a Main Cabin we'd be happy to sit in.
